Insurance programs offer a wide variety of products to further enhance the value of your membership with extensive product offerings nationwide. Insurance programs are offered through a partnership with Mercer Insurance Company. Certain coverage may not be available in all states.


  • Webinars on topics such as strengthening faculty handbooks, good-faith bargaining, working with the media, and other topics of interest. 
  • Toolkits for chapter action that give you the guidelines, sample documents, and other resources you need to advance the faculty voice on your campus. These toolkits will help you organize a stronger chapter, run issue-based campaigns, build a better website, win improvements for faculty collective bargaining agreements, and more.
  • One Faculty Campaign materials, which equip chapters to advocate for faculty in contingent appointments. 
  • Guidebooks providing in-depth advice about the Family and Medical Leave Act, pregnancy in the academy, and faculty handbooks as enforceable contracts. 
  • A subscription to Academe, the quarterly magazine of the AAUP, which analyzes higher education issues from faculty members’ perspectives. Feature articles examine tenure, affirmative action, contingent faculty appointments, intellectual property, and other timely academic issues.The summer Bulletin issue of Academe contains the year's most important reports. 


  • Thanks to our affiliation with the American Federation of Teachers, all AAUP members are also AFT members and eligible for the full range of AFT's member benefits. Learn more
  • AAUP members are eligible for a free account with Summer. Summer is a platform designed to streamline the application process for PSLF, and help borrowers get tailored advice for their situation from student loan experts.   • Professional Liability InsuranceThis comprehensive coverage designed exclusively for AAUP members provides protection in the event of costly litigation related to your professional duties as a faculty member, librarian, researcher, or member of an instructional staff employed in an institution of higher education.
  • Medical InsuranceAn affordable major medical plan may be hard to find if you are not covered under a college or university policy. We offer plans from some of the top health insurance carriers in the country. You can also shop for short-term medical plans, which may be an affordable alternative to major medical plans. Licensed agents in all fifty states can help you choose the option that best fits your needs. Small employer options, ideal for groups of up to 50, are also available.
  • Long-Term Care InsuranceLong-Term Care Resources offers customized plans to help you manage care and protect assets in case you suffer long-term effects of an accident or debilitating disease.
  • Accident InsuranceThe Accident Insurance Plan provides inexpensive protection against financial loss from an accident if the accident results in death or loss of limbs, hearing, speech, or sight. Benefit levels between $50,000 and $500,000 are available. A unique educational rider is part of family coverage. All AAUP members under seventy are guaranteed coverage, as are their families.
