Rules and general information about AAUP biennial meetings
Delegates who wish to participate in the biennial meeting, including voting in Council elections and other matters brought to the biennial meeting, must complete three steps:
In order to vote in the Council election, chapters and sections must submit to the AAUP a delegate registration form listing all of their proposed delegates, and any alternates, by May 16. Delegate forms and instructional materials are available above. You can find guidance on electing chapter and section delegates here.
In order to participate in the biennial meeting, individual delegates must receive their delegate credentials at the credentialing table at the biennial meeting. (Each delegate must go and receive their individual credentials; delegates or others cannot receive credentials for others.) In order to participate in the first day of the meeting, delegates must receive their delegate credentials by 11 a.m. on the first day of the meeting, June 17, 2022. In order to participate in the second day of the biennial meeting, delegates must receive their delegate credentials no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 17.
Credentialed delegates must attend and be present at the biennial meeting in order to participate in the meeting. (There is no proxy voting and a delegate cannot carry the votes of other delegates.) The biennial meeting is scheduled for June 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. More information on the meeting times and location is available here, and more information on delegate voting is available here.
In the Council election, during the second session of the biennial meeting on June 18, delegates for each chapter or section will cast secret ballots equal to the number of members in the chapter or section. If a chapter or section has more than one delegate, each delegate would receive ballots representing an equal portion of the votes to which the chapter or section is entitled, with the remaining votes allocated to the first credentialed delegate listed on the chapter or section’s delegate form.
