Academe Names New Book Review Editor

Academe is pleased to announce that Michael DeCesare, chair and associate professor of sociology at Merrimack College, will serve as the next book review editor of Academe. DeCesare brings a range of local and national AAUP experience to the book review editor post: he has served as president of Merrimack’s AAUP chapter since 2012, and he is a member of the AAUP’s Committee on College and University Governance and the AAUP Foundation’s Academic Freedom Fund Governing Board. DeCesare, whose scholarly work focuses on the sociology of education and on social movements, is the author of A Discipline Divided: Sociology in American High Schools and the forthcoming Death on Demand: Jack Kevorkian and the Right-to-Die Movement.
