The nomination and election process is conducted by the chapters and section. Due to federal law, there are some minimal requirements for these elections. A nomination and election notice must be transmitted to all members of chapters participating in the section. Delegate election must be by secret ballot, either by mail ballot or by secret ballot at a chapter meeting. If there is only one nominee per delegate position, no election is required.

Delegates must be members in good standing of a participating chapter in order to be eligible for nomination and election as a section delegate. If only one delegate is nominated for each open position in a section, there will be no ballot election of delegates, and the section delegate will be considered elected by acclamation.

Sections must submit a delegate registration form identifying all delegates and alternates. Section delegates are treated the same as other chapter delegates, and must receive their delegate credentials in person at the biennial meeting at the delegate credentialing table no later than 5 p.m. on the first day of the biennial meeting.
