On February 10, the AAUP and 36 other organizational partners, including PEN America and the AFT, wrote to the Board of Regents of Texas A&M University calling for the revocation of recent policies that have led to widespread censorship of faculty and curriculum and the shuttering of the university's Women & Gender Studies Department. This letter follows the AAUP's earlier statement decrying the censorship of over 200 courses as the university's "abdicating its responsibility to support students’ right to learn and faculty’s right to teach," as well as concentrated protests from both students and faculty opposing the policies.
