On September 12, 2025, the AAUP, with a broad coalition of higher education groups, filed an amicus brief in the Federal Circuit in support of a challenge to the Trump Administration’s reduction of tuition assistance for veterans under the GI Bill. The brief argues that shortening the eligibility period for tuition benefits will irreparably harm veterans and educational institutions alike, forcing students to either pause or prematurely end their degree programs. In turn, the brief supports petitioners’ request that the court compel payment of these critical benefits while the case is pending.
