As the fight to defend higher education continues amid increasing attacks on academic freedom, tenure, governance, and student rights, the AAUP has formed a political action committee (PAC). The PAC’s formation was officially disclosed to the Federal Election Commission in November, and the PAC will be active in the midterm elections in 2026. In a statement to Bloomberg Government, AAUP President Todd Wolfson cited the PAC’s formation as “an extension of our fight to ensure a future for American higher education through bipartisan legislation that recognizes that college can be tuition-free, debt-free, welcoming to all, conducive to academic freedom, and offer jobs with dignity.”
