Kudos to Lincoln University AAUP

The Lincoln University chapter of the AAUP (LUC-AAUP) celebrated fifty years as a collective bargaining chapter in 2022. Lincoln, a state-related university located in Pennsylvania with campuses in Chester County and in Philadelphia, was founded in 1854 as Ashmun Institute and was the first degree-granting historically Black institution. Since 1972, when faculty members voted overwhelmingly to form a union, LUC-AAUP has, as its website states, “existed to uphold the three cherished pillars of academe: faculty governance, academic freedom, and tenure.” The chapter represents Lincoln University faculty at the bargaining table and negotiated a new three-year contract with the administration in 2022. We congratulate LUC-AAUP on its half century of advocating for faculty!
