Academe is pleased to announce that Matthew Boedy, professor of composition and rhetoric at the University of North Georgia, will be the magazine's next book review editor. He has served since 2023 as a contributing editor for Academe Blog, where he has written about political pressures on higher education, particularly in the South. As president of the Georgia AAUP conference, Boedy is active in organizing efforts across the state and region and often speaks on behalf of AAUP principles in response to media inquiries. His scholarly work focuses on the rhetoric of religion, including perceptions of evil. He is the author of The Seven Mountains Mandate: Exposing the Dangerous Plan to Christianize America and Destroy Democracy, published this year, and Speaking (of) Evil: Rhetoric and the Responsibility to and for Language, as well as numerous book chapters and book reviews on topics related to political division and religious rhetoric. He is currently planning Academe book reviews that will be published in the winter 2026 issue and later.
