	AAUP in the Media In an election held Tuesday and Wednesday, faculty members at the University of Connecticut Health Center voted to form an AAUP collective bargaining chapter. (11/19) In a new study of salaries of assistant coaches, USA Today finds that despite economic hard times and budget cuts, the salaries of many approach and even exceed presidents' compensation and that most eclipse that of full professors. (11/10) From the Times Higher Education in London, "For all the challenges, said Cary Nelson, a University of Illinois professor of English and president of the AAUP, he agrees: 'To me there’s no better job.'" This marks the first time that faculty at a freestanding medical school have voted to unionize. (11/19)

Supporting Our Students

The AAUP congratulates graduate employees at the University of Illinois for successfully negotiating with the university administration a tentative agreement that includes tuition waivers--a key issue for graduate employees. The AAUP earlier issued a statement of support for the union. (11/17)
