AERA Endorses the AAUP’s 1940 Statement of Principles

The AAUP is pleased to announce that the council of the American Educational Research Association voted last month to endorse the 1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure issued by the AAUP and the Association of American Colleges and Universities.

The statement has been endorsed by more than 200 scholarly societies, in particular those in the social sciences and humanities, over the years.

AERA's endorsement of the statement coincides with the upcoming 75th anniversary of its initial publication.
