This webinar will discuss general principles of shared governance and their relevance for the growing ranks of faculty members who hold contingent appointments. We will present AAUP-supported recommendations for the equitable inclusion of non-tenure-track faculty members in governance.
Presenter Shawn Gilmore is a senior lecturer in English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is secretary of his local union chapter, chair of the University Statutes and Senate Procedures committee of the UIUC academic senate, and a member of the AAUP’s Committee on College and University Governance. Presenter Mark Criley is a program officer in the AAUP’s Department of Academic Freedom, Tenure, and Governance.
