Scientific Data Must Be Released

The AAUP has joined the National Wildlife Federation and prominent scientists and researchers in an open letter to attorney general Eric Holder and BP CEO Robert Dudley asking for full public release of all scientific data related to the Gulf Coast oil disaster. While some data have been released, other information such as species-specific data on bird oilings and deaths remains unavailable. In an effort to obtain more complete data on bird injury and deaths related to the spill, the National Wildlife Federation has also filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
