Contract at Monmouth

The AAUP chapter at Monmouth University in New Jersey has signed a three year agreement with the university that provides for raises in each year as well as improvements in several areas. The chapter represents full-time faculty in collective bargaining.

Notable aspects of the new contract include the following.

  • Minimum salary levels for assistant, associate, and full professors;
  • increased mini sabbaticals for the summer, including a guarantee that each tenure-track faculty member will receive one before going up for promotion and tenure;
  • an increase in travel funds of almost 40 percent, along with more flexible rules;
  • family friendly policies that provide more support and time for childbirth, adoption, and caring for elderly parents;
  • language clarifying the hiring, responsibilities, and review of full-time non-tenure track faculty, as well as for tenure and promotion; and
  • raises of 3.4 percent, 2.5 percent, and 3 percent.
