Due to the unusually high number of accepted presentations, we are extending the schedule for AAUP’s Annual Conference on the State of Higher Education to Saturday, June 15.

Events of special interest:

• The highlight of the Annual Conference on the State of Higher Education will be four days of presentations by faculty members and administrators from around the country.  The presentations begin Wednesday, June 12, and continue through Saturday, June 15.

  Issues to be addressed include: the role of faculty in institutional decision making; collective bargaining in higher education; faculty working off the tenure track; assessment and accountability; the corporatization of teaching and research; academic freedom; the twenty-first century curriculum; MOOCS and online education.
   

• Capitol Hill Day, (Thursday, June 13)  the AAUP’s annual grassroots lobbying event, provides members an opportunity to advocate for higher education. AAUP members visit their senators and representatives and speak up about the issues that matter most to academia. The day concludes with a congressional reception on Capitol Hill. (for AAUP members only)
   
• Friday plenary luncheon speaker: Kenneth C. Green, The Campus Computing Project. “New Technology and Higher Education”
   
• Friday afternoon state lobbying networking meeting (for AAUP members only).
   
• Network with your colleagues at a cash bar reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres on Friday evening.
   
• Meetings of the AAUP Executive Committee and Council, the Collective Bargaining Congress, and the Assembly of State Conferences. (for AAUP members only)
   
• The Annual Meeting plenary (Saturday, June 15) will consider important business items such as investigations of alleged violations of academic freedom and tenure.
   
• Join us at Saturday’s luncheon in honoring fifty-year members and hearing their perspectives. The Iris Molotsky Award for Excellence in the Coverage of Higher Education will also be presented.. David M. Hughes will provide an update on “Why and How to Fight Person, Inc.”
   
• A cash bar and banquet on Saturday evening, June 15, will wrap up the conference. The banquet's keynote speaker is Steven (Stacey) Harris,  St. Louis University AAUP chapter president, "You Are Part of the Rebel Alliance and a Traitor." The Saint Louis University chapter will also receive the AAUP's Beatrice Konheim award.

All presenters and attendees may purchase optional meal function tickets using the online registration through June 7. The fees for these tickets are:

Lunch (Friday and Saturday) - $58 each
Banquet (Saturday) - $78.

Members of the AAUP CBC may also purchase tickets for the following:

CBC dinner (Thursday) - $78
CBC after-dinner meeting (Thursday) - $50 early-bird by May 15 and $75 after May 15
