New Column to Debut in January

Beginning with the January-February issue, Academe will contain a new column. Titled "Faculty Forum," the column's purpose is to raise important issues in the profession and to address internal and external pressures on it. Submissions are encouraged from both AAUP members and nonmembers (if their submissions are accepted, nonmembers must join the Association before publication).

Contributions to the members' column should address issues of concern to a wide range of Academe readers, who include faculty members from many different disciplines. Articles should adopt a clear point of view and be written in a lively, nontechnical style. They must maintain a collegial tone and be interesting, insightful, and original. In evaluating submissions, the editors will seek a broad representation of institutional types, regions of the country, and ranks in the profession, giving priority to often-marginalized voices within the profession. The word limit is 750, and columns can contain no subheadings, footnotes, tables, or other such attributes.

See the complete guidelines. To make a submission, write to the editors at 1012 Fourteenth St., NW, Washington, DC 20005, or send an e-mail to academe@aaup.org.
