Financial analysis services

AAUP national consultant, Rudy Fichtenbaum, is available to perform an institutional financial analysis for chapters at a reduced fee. An AAUP financial analysis of a universities or college is based primarily on the audited financial statements of the institution. The report begins by looking at trends in assets, liabilities and net assets over a five-year period. Next, the report examines revenues, expenses and net income for an institution. Again the emphasis is on looking at trends over a five-year period. In addition, the report examines changes in actual cash flow and differentiates between spending for operations and spending on capital construction. The report also breaks down the sources of revenue and uses of resources at an institution and shows how they change over time. Finally, Rudy calculates a composite index of financial health based on criteria used by bond rating agencies to measure the financial health of an institution.  To learn more, contact the Department of Organizing and Services.

Health care analysis services

AAUP national consultant Howard Bunsis is available to provide a health care analysis for chapters at a reduced fee. In investigating the health care situation at a university, Howard provides the following analyses: What types of plans are offered? What cost is the faculty member expected to bear for each plan? What percentage of total health care costs do faculty members pay for, and what does the administration pay for? What is covered, and whether the procedures covered is in line with what is done at other institutions, and whether there have been changes? How does the plan being offered compare to national and regional statistics on health care costs and trends? These analyses are designed to make chapter members feel more comfortable about what their health care options are, what it will cost them, and how any potential changes will impact what they pay for health care, and how health care is delivered.  To learn more, contact the Department of Organizing and Services.
