Transportation

Ground Transportation

There are several ways to get to Suffolk University once you arrive in Boston.

Mass Transportation

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), known as the “T”, is a system of five  color-coded transit lines: Green, Red, Orange, Blue and Silver. The Green, Red, Orange and Blue lines are served by subway and trolley cars and the Silver line is served by bus.

Suffolk University is located within close walking distance to the Green/Red lines at Park Street  Station, the Green/Blue lines at Government Center and the Orange/Red  line at Downtown Crossing. The “T” runs Monday through Saturday from 5:15am to 12:30am and Sunday from  6:00am to 12:30am.

A One-Day Visitor’s pass may be purchased for $7.00 and a 3-Day Consecutive Day Pass costs  $11.00. Single ride tokens cost $1.25 and are available at any “T” Station.

The MBTA Information Services phone number is (617) 722-3200. Hours of Operation are  Monday through Friday 6:30am to 11:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Questions regarding rates and other MBTA services should be directed to the MBTA Switchboard at (617) 722-5000 Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 6:00pm.

Logan International Airport is served by most major airlines. Visitors arrive at one of four Terminals: A, B, C, or E (the International Terminal).

        ■ “T” MBTA Silver Line – Rapid transit bus service from each Logan Terminal to South Station (location of Amtrak and the Red Line “T” Station)

         ■ “T” MBTA Subway and Bus – The “T” Blue Line subway travels between the airport   and downtown Boston. There is frequent Massport Shuttle bus service from each of the airport terminals to the Airport Station

        ■ Water Transport – Boat service is available from the Airport Water Dock to Rowes    Wharf in downtown Boston. There is frequent free Massport Water Transport shuttle bus service from each of the airport terminals to the Airport Water Station

Amtrak’s largest station serving the Boston Area is Boston-South Station, located at Summer Street and Atlantic Avenue, located on the “T” Red Line.

For Hire Services

Taxi stands are located at Logan International Airport, the train terminals and many of the subway stations. Areas within a 20-mile radius of downtown Boston are charged a meter rate. Beyond the 20-mile radius the charge is a flat rate. Fares are based upon the occupancy of one  to four passengers per taxi. All fares leaving Logan International Airport are charged a $2.25  airport fee. Travel through the Harbor Tunnels will cost an additional $5.25 toll fee. Driving around Boston is strongly discouraged for those unfamiliar with the city’s many one-way streets, traffic congestion, and lack of affordable parking options. Long-term parking is costly and street and metered parking are limited. If you park at a meter and it expires, you will be ticketed.
