Globalization, Shared Governance, and Academic Freedom: An International Conference

When: June 11-13, 2009
held in conjunction with the AAUP’s 95th Annual Meeting

Where: Omni Shoreham Hotel
Washington, D.C.

Conference topics include a wide range of issues related to globalization, academic freedom, governance, faculty work life, public policy, contingent faculty, and faculty rights and responsibilities.

Due to the unexpectedly high response to the call for proposals and the large number of high-quality proposals, we've expanded the conference from its original two day format into a three day format.  See the final schedule (.pdf).

The goal of the conference is to provide a faculty perspective on critical issues in higher education presented in a format accessible to the general public.

The registration deadline is May 1, 2009.  Annual Meeting attendees are invited to come hear the presentations.

Presenters and attendees are responsible for their own travel and hotel arrangements. The conference will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Register at the Omni Shoreham at a discounted rate. (Please note that the AAUP dates on the hotel registration site correspond to the dates of the AAUP Annual Meeting and include the conference dates.) You may prefer to check the various on-line discount hotel sites to locate the best available accommodation rate in Washington.
