What is COCAL?
COCAL is a loose network of activists. Its primary functions are to share information, educate colleagues and the public about contingent faculty issues, and build solidarity among the scattered ranks of faculty activists. Participants include members and staff of the AAUP and many other organizations, plus unaffiliated individuals.

Why Mexico City?
COCAL is a multinational group, and its conferences are organized by faculty groups who volunteer to host. Past conferences have been at the Universite Laval in Quebec, San Diego State University, and other locations in the US and Canada. This time, faculty at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (or the National Autonomous University of Mexico) are hosting the conference.
What Are the Logistics?
Mexico City is about a five hour flight from DC, four hours from Chicago, and three and a half hours from LA. The conference will take place primarily at the university; arrangements include a group hotel and bus transportation to and from sessions.
