Given to a chapter for “outstanding achievement in advancing the Association’s objectives in academic freedom, student rights and freedoms, the status of academic women, the elimination of discrimination against minorities, or the establishment of equal opportunity for members of college and university faculties.” In the absence of a suitable chapter candidate, the award may be given to a state conference, and it may be divided between two chapters or conferences. The Konheim is not awarded every year. The amount of the award is $1,000.
