New Chapter Development Grants

The new-chapter development grant program, administered by the AAUP’s Assembly of State Conferences, is part of a concerted effort to increase the number of active advocacy chapters nationwide, and will be an ongoing effort, with no deadlines for application.

Grants will support chapter development by covering the following costs:

• Travel for members of the ASC executive committee to visit state conference meetings or individual campuses to offer training in chapter development.
• Campus visits from experienced chapter leaders.
• Membership-building activities of newly created or revived chapters

If you know of a campus that has active AAUP members but no organized chapter, and are interested in applying for assistance in developing the chapter, please download and complete the application (choose pdf or Microsoft Word version) and send it via e-mail to Eizzie Smith (esmith@aaup.org) with “Chapter Development Grant” in the subject line. State conference officers are also welcome to apply for grants to support efforts to jump start chapter creation statewide.  After evaluating your application, the ASC executive committee will inform you whether an award can be made, and will help with the coordination of visits and to establish a timeline to carry out the work.

If you have questions about this exciting new opportunity, or if you want to talk through a possible project, please contact Purificación Martínez (martinezp@ecu.edu) or Joerg Tiede (htiede@iwu.edu).
